Freedom of the Firebird
This was a halftime show that I wrote for Taveres High School in Tavares, Florida for this upcoming marching band season. I chose this artifact because, not only is music what consumes me (and what I consume) but this was my first serious gig making music and having someone else play it. As I composed this, I didn’t know about rhetorical situation as much as I do now and looking back at it I feel like I was just throwing notes on the page. Now, as I have been through this class I have thought more about all of my writing in all of my compositions, through writing, music writing, or arranging. This piece serves almost as a reminder of where I came from, as it is not too long ago that this was written. It was finalized the day before school started. If I were to continue with this piece and the ideas that I had in it, I would consider the rhetorical situation more in depth, such as the fact that it is a football game, or the fact that it is only a high school band.
